It worked last night

Well, I think most electronics fail when turned on or turned off. A dead set does not mean that the repair is expensive, it only means something is wrong.

Many failures can cause what appears to be a dead set. Try the front panel button on the set, remote controls fail, too.  Try unplugging the set for a minute.  New TVs have computer controls that occasionally need to be "rebooted".  Problems other than, "It won't turn on" can sometimes be corrected by unplugging the set, too.
